It’s our final market for 2019 and we can’t wait to celebrate with our local community and visitors to Newcastle! It’s been a fantastic year at the Olive Tree Market, and we look forward to bringing you a special Christmas Market on December 21st. Expect to see some fantastic local creatives who only pop up for our Christmas market, as well as some first time stallholders making their Olive Tree debuts.
We love to bring you lots of amazing artists, designers, and foodies in the lead-up to Christmas, so you have plenty of amazing gift ideas to choose from for all your family, friends and special people in your life. There will be over 170 stalls on December 21st, so it’s the perfect opportunity to come out and enjoy the beautiful grounds of Civic Park, and to shop ethically from our creative community this Christmas.
Aside from Christmas shopping we want to enjoy the day with you, our community, so make a day of it! Bring your people, and spend the day people watching, feasting and chilling out to great local live music. See you then!

The Unusual Pear
Popular local fibre artist Rainie Owen, from The Unusual Pear, has just released a book! We are lucky enough to have her popping up at our Christmas market with copies fresh from the printers! It’s packed full of inspiring frame loom weaving projects, featuring many weaving techniques and alternative ways to finish your weavings. Rainie will also have her weaving supplies, perfect gifts for the crafty people in your life.
Henry & Tunks
It’s the final chance to get yourself one of Henry and Tunks stunning ceramic pieces at our final market for the year on December 21st. Pick up one of maker Lyndel Henry’s beautiful ceramic home wares- perfect for festive feasts over the holiday period
Trevor Dickinson
Novocastrians have have a special place in their hearts for the Newcastle Ocean Bathes , they frequently inspire local artists, including local favorite, illustrator Trevor Dickinson. We hope that the bathes stay the amazing community asset that it currently is. Art is a wonderful way to immortalise such historical and meaningful places to the community and we are very appreciative of Trevor for documenting so much of Newcastle in his signature style. Trevor only comes Olive Tree for our yearly Christmas markets so we are greatly looking forward to having him on December 21st! All of his works make wonderful and thoughtful gifts for locals and mementos for visiting family and friends.
Binko Banko
Binko Banko’s Christmas themed earrings quickly flew off the shelves at the last Olive Tree Market, and we can see why! They are intricate, and beautifully hand painted, and the perfect piece of Christmas cheer for any lover of unique jewellery this Christmas.
Studio Tinta
We are very excited to be welcoming Studio Tinta to The Olive Tree Market for the first time. Combining botanical dyes and natural fibers, these one-of-a-kind textiles are highlighting the beauty of renewable, natural resources and we can’t get enough of them! Katie, the maker behind Studio Tinta showcases her work across the country and we are happy to say calls Newcastle home.
Leiluca Ceramics
Who else is heading on a road trip this holiday? All we can say is, make sure you pack your Leiluca Ceramics keep cup! Perfect for those multiple coffees we all need on those long drives. And it’s so much yummier drinking from a ceramic cup! Let’s all do our bit and shop local, and aim to quit single use plastic and coffee cups as our New Year’s resolution.

Designer Greg of Burbia Prints creative use of typography and design, combined with knowledge and love of Newcastle, make for fun colourful art and statement for your walls. Luke Abbot Designs
The biomimicry that artisan Luke Abbot utilises in his jewellery and earrings are so unique and aesthetically spectacular. We’ve never seen anything else like it! Luke’s work is extremely sought after and we are very lucky to have him joining us on December 21st. We have an ever-changing lineup at Olive Tree and we love being a space where artists from different regions can introduce their work to our local community, and other local artists, and be a place where they can build relationships and inspire one another. Take home one of Luke beautiful dragonfly or cicada earrings and lots of other unique pieces.

Local designer Jana of Beep Bells hand paints the most fabulous designs for all the family on her range of vibrant bike bells- she also has a great range of bike accessories for the kids. Pick up a cute bell for a unique stocking filler for the shiny new, or old favourite, bikes this Christmas.
